Chocolate chaffles make the ideal breakfast when you want something sweet or perfect dessert when you have a chocolate craving up don’t want to mess with the hassle of making a keto dessert with lots of steps and ingredients. Chocolate chaffles can be made in about 5 minutes.

These chocolate chaffles are made with cream cheese instead of mozzarella cheese. That way they don’t taste like sweet chocolatey cheese. Almond flour is added to give substance to the waffle. Chocolate chaffles are delicious topped with butter, whipped cream, nut butters, or sugar free syrups.

Chaffles require a waffle maker. A popular waffle maker is the mini waffle iron by Dash. They make a mini version that makes the best size for making chaffles.

Larger models of waffle makers can be used to make chaffles as well. The chaffle batter needs to be poured in the center of the waffle iron. You don’t need to spread out the waffle batter. The batter will spread on it’s own.

Is it necessary to spray the waffle iron with oil?

There is no need to grease the waffle iron before cooking chaffles. Fat from the cheese provides enough grease to keep the chaffle from sticking to the waffle iron.

    Chaffle storage

Chaffles can be meal prepped ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. They can be reheated and crisped up in the toaster or oven.

To freeze chocolate chaffles, let them cool first. Then flash freeze each chaffle on a plate or pan in the freezer for 30 minutes. Store the chocolate chaffles in a freezer safe bag.

To reheat, insert in a toast, oven or toaster oven to heat through.

    Is chocolate keto?

Chocolate is okay to have on the keto diet – as long as you are consume unsweetened chocolate or a chocolate that is sweetened with a sugar free alternative like monk fruit, stevia, or erythritol.

I recommend using a 100% unsweetened cocoa powder. These have the least amount of carbohydrates per serving.

    2. Just made chocolate waffles today. They do not taste like chaffles at all. Very tasty, and very satisfying. Easy to make. One serving did not fit into Dash mini waffle iron, so from two servings I’ve got 4 mini waffles.
      Thank you

    3. Tastes fine, but did find one of the instructions to be a bit….silly, frankly. Cooking it until “golden brown” is a bit useless, considering that the darkness of the chocolate makes “golden” brown an utterly useless measure for when the waffle is done cooking. Might want to reconsider that particular method of determining doneness, like when the waffle maker is done steaming, or its indicator light goes off (both work very well with my mini, and with my full-size makers).

    4. Just discovered this as winter S.A.D.S is starting to settle in. This is going to be a great go to comfort food, tyvm.
(although I did make a bit of a mess of my kitchen worktop, had to swap monk fruit for Erythritol and didn’t allow for the extra volume, so it oozed all over the sides lol)
