There is no need to skip the stuffing this Thanksgiving since it’s made with keto bread! This flavorful and delicious keto sausage stuffing will definitely hit the spot.
I like these types of recipes because they really show you that you can make almost anything keto-friendly. All you really need to do is change a few simple ingredients. And you won’t be losing any flavors or textures – this stuffing will taste like traditional stuffing with a lot less calories and carbs.
Keto Sausage Stuffing
Start by preheating the oven to 350F. Place the bread cubes on a large sheet pan and place in oven. After 7 minutes, toss the bread around on the sheet pan. You want the bread to dry out, so check it at about 15 minutes and see if it’s dried.
While the bread is toasting, brown the sausage in a large skillet over high heat, for about 5-8 minutes until no longer pink. Next, transfer the meat into a large mixing bowl. In the same skillet you cooked the sausage in, melt ¼ cup butter over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, poultry seasoning and sage. Cook over medium heat until tender for about 10 minutes.
Now place the toasted bread cubes, onion mixture, salt and pepper into the mixing bowl with the sausage. Pour broth and the beaten eggs over the top. Gently toss together, coating all of the bread.
Place the stuffing mixture in the dish. Cube the remaining ¼ cup butter into small pieces and scatter over the top of the casserole. Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes. Uncover and finish in the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
If you like the top of your stuffing to get crispy and crunchy, you can place the dish under the broiler for a couple of minutes. Yum!
Enjoy this keto sausage stuffing with your next holiday meal. I really like to cook with sausage because it’s so packed with flavors. From appetizers to sides, soups, and more, check out lots more sausage recipes here.

Sausage can be an excellent food for keto diet followers, but the key word is can. Several gourmet sausages including the smoked pork or beef bratwurst from our butcher shop, and the cheesy cheddar sausage, are keto-friendly because there are no fillers – just great meat.
Vegetables: You'll need finely diced celery and a chopped onion. Bread: The white bread cubes should ideally be slightly stale. If your bread seems too soft, lightly toast it in the oven. Seasonings: Season the sausage stuffing with poultry seasoning and ground black pepper.
Low in carbs and high in fat, sausages and hot dogs are keto-friendly! Although we recommend eating processed meats sparingly, hot dogs and sausages can be a great meal choice if you're following a flexible keto diet. And don't forget adding chicken sausage, turkey hot dogs, and tofu dogs to the grill, too.
Bananas. Bananas may be great for muscle recovery, reducing bloat, and calming an upset stomach, but they're on the list of foods you can't eat on the keto diet. With 25g of carbs per 100g serving, bananas are too high in carbs.
Broth: Chicken broth keeps the stuffing moist without making it soggy. Eggs: Two lightly beaten eggs help hold the dressing together and add moisture. Water: You can add a few tablespoons of water, if you'd like, to achieve your desired consistency.
Coat the sausage stuffer tube with vegetable shortening. Then, gently place a casing onto the sausage stuffer tube, ensuring you leave approximately four inches to securely tie off one end. Using the food pusher, feed the meat down and into the casing until about 4-6 inches of the casing remains.
Add at least 1 oz.of water per pound of meat to aid in the stuffing process. This aid in mixing the meat with the seasoning and will ease the stress put on the gears of your meat mixer and sausage stuffer. Try experimenting with liquids other than water when mixing your next batch of sausage.
Stuffing is not strictly a healthy food, because it is typically high in calories, fat, sodium, and refined carbohydrates. 1 But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, All foods can fit into a healthy diet in moderation.
Sicilian Fennel sausages are decadent, healthy and extremely popular. Sasitsa (sausage) Sicilian is a low-carb, gluten-free sausage that's as flavorful and nutritious as it is low in carbs.
I have a couple of keto-friendly brands of kielbasa that I like. Teton Waters Ranch is a good one and is available at many grocery stores, including Kroger. My husband picks up this organic smoked sausage from Kiolbassa at Costco. And Pedersons sells their no-sugar added kielbasa at Target and Natural Grocers.
Yes, bacon and sausage are allowed on the keto diet, as they are high in fat and protein and low in carbs. However, it's important to ensure that any meats consumed are high quality, and not processed with added sugars or other unhealthy ingredients.
